MARCH 2 2010
Natchitoches Parish man was charged today with murder in the December disappearance of a Natchitoches woman, authorities said in a news release.
The body of the missing woman, Clara Patricia “Patty” Bynog, has not been recovered. However, sheriff’s investigators believe they have enough evidence to charge Morgan Prothro, 37, of the 200 block of Paul Jordan Road, with second-degree murder, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr. said in the release.
Prothro and Bynog were known to have been together prior to her disappearance. Prothro was interviewed after Bynog was reported missing on Dec. 13, but investigators did not have enough evidence to hold him at the time, Jones said.
Evidence has been collected and sent to the Northwest Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory in Shreveport for processing. Deputies also are working to obtain additional evidence.
The investigation, Jones said, will continue “in an effort to find out as much as possible about what actually happened.”
Prothro is held in the Natchitoches Detention Center without bond.
Body has matching physical similarities.
Awaiting DNA analysis.
